Dull glossy surfaces by sanding. Seal stains (rust, tannin bleed, etc.) with an appropriate stain-blocking primer before painting. Caulk around windows, doors, and other openings after spot priming any bare surfaces. Knots and some woods (like redwood, cedar) contain tannins; the first coat may show some staining, but a second coat will typically provide a uniform appearance. If staining persists, spot prime severe areas with a quality stain-blocking primer.
Application Instructions: Stir paint thoroughly before and during use. If using multiple containers, intermix them to ensure color uniformity. Apply only when paint, surface, and air temperatures are between 35°F and 90°F (2°C – 32°C) and expected to remain so during the entire application and drying time. Do not paint if temperatures are expected to drop below 35°F (2°C) within 48 hours of application or when heavy dew or precipitation is expected in the next 2.5 hours. Apply with a premium-quality brush or roller.
