Recommended Surfaces: Properly prepared exterior surfaces including wood, hardboard, aluminum siding, vinyl siding*, masonry, brick, stucco, cement composition panels, and primed metal. Not for use on floors. *Vinyl Siding Warning: Do NOT tint to a color darker than the original color of the siding. Dark colors absorb excess heat and can cause vinyl panels to warp or buckle.
Surface Preparation: Remove surface contaminants with an appropriate cleaner, rinse thoroughly, and allow to dry completely. Scrape away loose or peeling paint and sand damaged areas smooth. Dull glossy surfaces by sanding. Seal stains (rust, tannin bleed, etc.) with an appropriate stain-blocking primer before painting. Caulk around windows, doors, and other openings after spot priming any bare surfaces. Knots and some woods (like redwood, cedar) contain tannins; the first coat may show some staining, but a second coat will typically provide a uniform appearance. If staining persists, spot prime severe areas with a quality stain-blocking primer.
Application Instructions: Stir tinted paint thoroughly before and during use. If using multiple containers of the same custom color, intermix them to ensure color uniformity. Apply only when paint, surface, and air temperatures are between 35°F and 90°F (2°C – 32°C) and expected to remain so during the entire application and drying time. Do not paint if temperatures are expected to drop below 35°F (2°C) within 48 hours of application or when heavy dew or precipitation is expected in the next 2.5 hours. Apply with a premium-quality brush or roller.

A Tint Base has very little color or hiding power on its own and must be tinted at the paint store before use. It’s specifically formulated to accept colorants to create custom medium-to-deep shades accurately. Using it without tint will result in a weak, translucent, and non-durable finish.
Q2: I want to paint my vinyl siding a dark blue. Is this a good product for that?
While this paint is suitable for vinyl siding, it is CRITICAL that you do not choose a color darker than the original siding color. Dark colors absorb significantly more heat from the sun, which can cause vinyl panels to permanently warp, buckle, or distort. Always select a vinyl-safe color that is similar in lightness to, or lighter than, your existing siding.
