Please Note: This is a Tint Base paint (often called Deep or Accent Base). It contains minimal white pigment and is specifically formulated to be tinted with colorant at the point of purchase to achieve medium-to-deep or vibrant shades. It cannot be used untinted or for white/pastel colors.
Once tinted, enjoy fade-resistant color with a finish that’s easier to keep clean than flat. This paint offers great hide and coverage over properly prepared surfaces. It’s engineered to resist cracking and peeling and provides a mold- and mildew-resistant finish. The paint & primer formula simplifies application, providing a durable satin look for your chosen deep shade.
Recommended Surfaces: Properly prepared exterior surfaces including wood, hardboard, aluminum siding, vinyl siding*, masonry, brick, stucco, cement composition panels, and primed metal. Not for use on floors. (Note on Vinyl Siding: Do not paint vinyl siding with a color darker than the original color, as heat absorption can cause warping. This is especially critical when considering deep colors from a tint base.)
Surface Preparation: Remove surface contaminants with an appropriate cleaner, rinse thoroughly, and allow to dry completely. Scrape away loose or peeling paint and sand damaged areas smooth. Dull glossy surfaces by sanding. Seal stains (rust, tannin bleed, etc.) with an appropriate stain-blocking primer before painting. Caulk around windows, doors, and other openings after spot priming any bare surfaces. Knots and some woods (like redwood, cedar) contain tannins; the first coat may show some staining, but a second coat will typically provide a uniform appearance. If staining persists, spot prime severe areas with a quality stain-blocking primer.
Application Instructions: Stir paint thoroughly before and during use. If using multiple containers, intermix them to ensure uniform color. Apply only when paint, surface, and air temperatures are between 35°F and 90°F (2°C – 32°C) and expected to remain so during the entire application and drying time. Do not paint if temperatures are expected to drop below 35°F (2°C) within 48 hours of application. Avoid painting in direct, hot sun, or when heavy dew or precipitation is expected within the next 2.5 hours. Apply using a quality brush, roller, or airless sprayer according to manufacturer’s directions.
Clean-up & Disposal: Clean tools and spills immediately with warm, soapy water. Do not pour unused paint down the drain. Consult local authorities for proper disposal and recycling methods in your area.

While flat can look very modern, a satin finish offers better washability, which can be helpful even with dark colors to remove dust or pollen streaks. It also provides a subtle sheen that adds richness and dimension to deep or vibrant colors, while still offering the same core durability and resistance features of the Supreme Edge line.
Q2: Can I use this Satin Tint Base to paint my vinyl siding a deep color like charcoal or forest green?
Extreme caution is needed. Painting vinyl siding darker than its original color, especially with deep shades from a Tint Base, significantly increases heat absorption and risks warping. Check if the specific deep color you want is rated as “vinyl-safe” or consult the siding manufacturer before proceeding. Sticking to original or lighter colors is safest for vinyl.
Q3: How easy is it to clean dirt off a dark satin exterior paint?
The smoother surface of a satin finish generally makes it easier to clean than a flat finish. Gentle washing with mild soap and water should remove typical surface dirt, dust, and pollen effectively without damaging the paint, helping keep dark colors looking their best.
