Product Description: Add durable protection and an attractive satin sheen to your exterior surfaces with Valspar Supreme Edge Exterior Clear Finish. This 100% acrylic formula acts as a clear topcoat, sealing and protecting underlying surfaces from weathering while enhancing their appearance with a smooth, low-luster finish.
Apply this clear coat over existing, compatible exterior paint (ensure proper curing) to increase its durability and washability, or use it directly on properly prepared exterior wood where you want to protect the natural look while adding a subtle sheen. It helps shield against the elements and provides a finish resistant to mold and mildew growth. The satin finish is easy to clean and adds a touch of elegance compared to flat clear coats. Being water-based, it offers easy soap-and-water cleanup.
Recommended Uses: As a protective clear topcoat over compatible, properly prepared and cured exterior painted surfaces, or directly on prepared exterior wood, masonry, stucco where a clear, protective finish with a satin sheen is desired. Not for use on floors or decks subject to foot traffic.
Surface Preparation:
Over Paint: Ensure existing paint is clean, dry, fully cured, and sound. Dull any overly glossy surfaces by light sanding. Clean thoroughly.
Bare Wood/Other Surfaces: Surface must be clean, dry, and free of contaminants. Sand smooth. Seal stains or prime if needed before applying clear coat (check compatibility). Follow general exterior prep guidelines regarding cleaning and sanding. Handle tannin bleed as needed if applying to bare wood prone to it.
General: Remove surface contaminants with an appropriate cleaner, rinse thoroughly, and allow to dry completely.
Application Instructions: Stir clear finish thoroughly before and during use. Apply only when product, surface, and air temperatures are between 35°F and 90°F (2°C – 32°C) and expected to remain so during the entire application and drying time. Do not apply if temperatures are expected to drop below 35°F (2°C) within 48 hours. Avoid application in direct, hot sun, or when heavy dew or precipitation is expected within the next 2.5 hours. Apply using a quality brush, roller, or sprayer according to manufacturer’s directions. Apply thin, even coats.
Clean-up & Disposal: Clean tools and spills immediately with warm, soapy water. Do not pour unused product down the drain. Consult local authorities for proper disposal and recycling methods.
