Application Directions:

1. Surface Preparation: The surface must be dry and free of old finishes in poor condition, paint, wax, grease, polish, dirt, or other foreign matter.
2. Sanding: Sand to obtain a smooth, uniform surface. Remove all dust with a cloth dampened with mineral spirits.
3. Staining (Optional): If desired, apply Minwax stain to unfinished wood surfaces. Follow directions for application and dry times before applying polyurethane.
4. Stir Product: Stir Minwax Fast-Drying Polyurethane thoroughly before and during use to eliminate settling. Rotate the product from the bottom to the top of the can. NEVER SHAKE, as this can introduce bubbles.
5. Application: Apply a THIN, even coat of Minwax Fast-Drying Polyurethane using a high-quality natural bristle or foam brush.
6. Sanding Between Coats (Especially for Floors): For floor projects, allow the coat to dry (as per recoat time), then sand lightly with 220 grit sandpaper or an equivalent grit pad/screen designed for sanding between coats (using a square buff orbital or disk-type sander). Do not use a belt or drum-type sander. Follow sander manufacturer’s directions. For other projects, light sanding between coats (after fully dry) also enhances smoothness. Remove all sanding dust.
7. Apply Second Coat: If a third coat is desired for additional durability, repeat step 6 before application. Most projects benefit from at least two coats.
8. Curing: After the final coat, allow 24 hours before subjecting the surface to light use. Allow more time for heavy use or full cure as per product label.
