Application Directions:
Surface Preparation: Ensure the surface is dry and free of old finishes in poor condition, paint, wax, grease, polish, dirt, or other foreign matter.
Sanding: Sand to obtain a smooth, uniform surface. Remove all dust thoroughly.
Staining (Optional): If desired, apply Minwax stain to unfinished wood surfaces. Follow directions for application and ensure stain is completely dry before applying polyurethane.
Shake Can: Shake Minwax Fast-Drying Polyurethane spray can vigorously for two minutes. Continue to shake for 10 seconds occasionally during use.
Protect Surroundings: Protect adjacent areas from overspray. Wet overspray can be removed with mineral spirits.
Spraying Technique:Hold the can vertically approximately 12 inches from the surface. Depress the button fully and spray using an even, sweeping motion with slightly overlapping strokes. On unfinished wood, apply sufficient material to seal open joints, edges, and end-grain.
Apply Thin Coats & Recoat: Apply a THIN coat to avoid runs and sags. Recoat within 2 hours. If you cannot recoat within this 2-hour window, you must wait a minimum of 72 hours, then lightly sand the surface before applying the next coat.
Number of Coats: Apply at least three coats on unfinished wood and two coats on surfaces already finished for best durability.
Curing: After the final coat, allow 24 hours before subjecting the surface to normal use. Full cure takes longer.
