A 3/4″ nap roller is specifically designed for rough and textured surfaces. It’s excellent for deck boards (especially older ones with some texture), rough-sawn lumber fences, stucco, concrete block, and heavily textured walls where a shorter nap wouldn’t provide adequate coverage in the low spots.
Q2: The kit says it's for "all paints and stains," but includes a China bristle brush usually meant for oil-based products. Can I use the brush with latex/water-based stains or paints?
While the kit is marketed for all types, natural China bristles can sometimes absorb water and become less effective with water-based coatings compared to synthetic bristles. The included roller cover will work well with all types. You can use the China bristle brush with latex products, especially for smaller areas or detail work, but for extensive brushing with latex, a synthetic bristle brush might provide better performance and easier cleanup. The China bristle brush will excel if you are using oil-based stains or paints.
